Question Mark-25Who can take part in the Youth & Family Gold Challenge?

Everyone aged 4-15 (inclusive).

You can register as a team or an individual.

If you are aged 16 or over you can register with your under 16 peers as a school/youth/family team. If you are taking part in the challenge with others aged 16 and over only then you will need to register on our main site.

Question Mark-25Do I need to fundraise for a charity?

Yes. The Gold Challenge is a charity challenge so please choose a charity from our list of over 150 wonderful charity partners.

Question Mark-25Is there a minimum fundraising commitment?

No – but we do want you to raise as much money for charity as possible and, during registration, you will be asked to set a fund-raising target. If you are registering a school or youth group we recommend £2-5 per pupil.

Why not have some fun with the numbers 2,0,1 and 2 and set targets using those numbers? For example, what about everybody in the team personally raising £20.12 throughout the challenge? Or a team target of £2012!

Question Mark-25How much will it cost me?

Registration is free. If you are taking part in the Olympic Sport Challenge you may be asked to pay for lessons at your local sports facility if you choose to learn a sport as part of your challenge.

Question Mark-25Where can I do my challenge?

The great thing is that all the challenges can be done anywhere at any time! If you choose to do the Olympic Sport Challenge, then please use the Sports Finder to find local clubs, courses or events to do your chosen sport. If you are having any trouble doing any sports – or any aspect of your challenge – then please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call us on 020 7099 8895.

Question Mark-25When should I do my challenge?

The great thing is that you can complete the challenge at any time until the end of 2012.

Question Mark-25How do I register?

Just complete registration. Registration is free, simple and should only take a couple of minutes

If you are school or youth group please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 0207 09908895 and we can assist the registration process to make it much quicker for you.

Question Mark-25Do I need parental consent?

If you are aged between 4-15 then you may need parental consent. During registration you will be asked for the contact details of your parent (or legal guardian) and we will contact them separately to obtain their consent. If you are registering a school or youth group you will need to ensure that your policies are adhered to when registering.

Or if you still feel adventurous, why not upgrade your challenge to cover 10, 20 or all 30 Olympic and Paralympic sport options?

Challenge suggestion: Gold Challenge Week.

Perhaps your group or team could arrange to complete your challenge in one full week, with a sport each day. This might be ideal for a school holiday period or for a focussed theme to a week of sport. Perhaps team members could arrange to take a sport each for that week, or a member of staff could help.
